The Spicy Bench Restobar: Reviews & Ratings
What a wonderful place to eat! Amazing food and portions all perfectly seasoned. We had pepperoni pizza, beef poutine, and cheese butter masala! We are all leaving with leftovers! The staff are friendly and accommodating highly recommend checking it out. We'll be back
Update: A different meal was suggested and sent on the Monday. It was a lovely chickpea dish served with flatbread . The flatbread and the naan were great . The chickpea dish was very flavorful . Nice and thick like a stew , with a mild spice and a Smoky flavor . I was very pleasantly surprised. I have updated from the two stars to 4 and 1/2. Customer service was great. I will definitely go back and try something else another time. Update: The restaurant has called me (same day) in an effort to make this right. And they will be delivering me another meal on Monday and based upon that this review may revised. Good customer service. The two stars are for the naan. It was ok. The dal tadka however was awful. So disappointing to get only one dish and it's terrible. I will try to upload a video if it lets me, but basically the yellow dal was a spicy, but watery, red soup, with a layer of oil sitting on the top of it. There were hardly any lentils in it, and the few lentils that were in it were mushed, overcookooked, and entirely tasteless. I ordered naan and roti to have something to pick the dal up with. Well that was completely useless for this watery mess. A straw would have been better. Of course I didn't get a straw, or a spoon, or a fork, or a knife, or a napkin, or anything else. I had to run around my work finding somebody who had a fork. I have just strained the "soup" and there is literally less than a quarter of a cup of lentils in that entire container of liquid. For those of you who are going to ask.., yes, I did call the store and ask them if this was normal. The new girl working there told me she was also surprised at how it looked when she ordered it last week. She said "I guess they just make it that way". I was also told I could complain to doordash, or that if I came in to the store next week and explained the issue to the owners there is a chance they might do something for me, but that she could not guarantee that. Doordash won't give me a refund because something is poorly cooked, and I'm not even going to ask. What I will do, is not patronize this restaurant anymore. It is a real shame as Indian food is my favorite. Time to flush the soup. So very disappointed
Loved the puff and sandwich at The Spicy Bench Restobar! The puff was crispy and tasty, and the sandwich was fresh and filling. Great place to chill with good food and friendly vibes.
Been to Spicy Bench twice now and enjoyed both visits very much. The food was excellent. The service was great and the atmosphere was also nice. Lots of menu items to choose from. I haven't had the breakfast items yet, but I saw the orders that others were getting and it also looked great. The prices are reasonable and the portions were excellent. The beer they had on tap from manitulin brewery was quite good. Can't wait to check out more of thier dishes in the future.
Tried the Tandoori Sandwich and Samosa Poutine – both were bursting with flavor and absolutely delicious! The creativity and taste are on point, definitely a must-visit spot for anyone craving something unique and satisfying.
Delicious food and great presentation. Loved the samosa chaat, masala papad, Hakka noodles, and Manchurian — full of authentic taste and freshness. Will definitely come again!
My neighbor recommended The Spicy Bench for breakfast, and I decided to finally give it a try. Honestly, my only problem is that I didn't find this place sooner! It is a total hidden gem. It seems to be the only spot in Midland offering a breakfast special all week long and until 1:00 PM, which is a huge plus. The food was absolutely to die for—just look at the picture! If you haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for? Head down and check it out for yourself; you won’t be disappointed.
Enjoyed the Butter Chicken which came with steamed rice. The rice had star anise and cilantro and was delicious. I also ordered plain naan to sop up the sauce. All around delicious. Definitely going back to try the biriranyi
